Just saw that FIIO announced that it is delayed again to Fall 2026 unfortunatley, thinking about pulling the trigger on the cp13 already. Any thoughts

    I own a CP-13 and I love it.
Sounds very good with the Zero:2 IEM’s!

Which Zero:2 IEMs? I recently purchased a pair of Salnotes 7hz x Zero:2 just to try out IEMs and im already thinking about upgrading to some linsoul ones.

    Linsoul 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2

I love them. They’re currently my favorite sounding IEM / headphones.

The Linsouls sound remarkably good with the CP-13.

Truth is, the CP-13 is a little thin on bass. Using different headphones / IEMs can have a noticeable effect on the CP-13’s sound. On-Ear Koss KXT-Pro1 headphones delivers more bass without sounding bloated or muddy. Koss Porta Pro’s sound awful to me even on the bass-thin CP-13. The bass is obese and runs all over the mids and highs.
The Linsoul IEM’s have great clarity, imaging, and detail but bass is a little thin. In all, for the CP-13, my preference is the Linsouls.

quick edit: I think the thin sounding bass on the Linsouls is a result of the inherent thin sound of the the CP-13 itself.

Well, not too impressed with w&f he showed but I might be wrong comparing it to the sony/aiwa/panasonic walkmans when the technology was at its peak. But when I set myself in the position of the new buyer that want to try cassettes and does not want to bother servicing / restoring some 25year old device, I can say this is not too bad and probably better than anything on the market in this class. If the sound is good, I will probably consider buying it :)
From what he said, I would expect it to be around black friday time :)

Really depends what reference you take in regard to W&F.
If you take the absolute best players and say 0.1% WRMS is what's considered good, then of course 0.17% WRMS will seem meh.
But, if you average measurements on a significant number of serviced players (usually high-end), you will realise a figure <0.2% WRMS is actually good and something not all players will achieve.
It's also true that some lower-end players like SONY WM-FX315 can obtain figures like 0.15% consistently, while something like WM-701C would struggle to obtain similar figures on a consistent basis.
However this doesn't make an FX315 the reference.

Then we have to consider the DD range (0.08% WRMS spec). Don't think it should be an expectation belt drive units should, on average, obtain same figures (despite some particular mechanisms do).
In my opinion, the statistical distribution is more important than the absolute values on 1 or 2 units which may happen to have very little wear and tear.

In my opinion, the original CP13 main flaws weren't W&F, but the sound. It lacks bass extension and also 70us EQ, which is something many requested but Fiio ignored (hope they will do it now).
Also things like making the device easier to open and battery user replaceable are other aspects that I think are important and will even be a requirement in EU.
AAs recharghable directly through USB-C with alkaline switch/protection is the way to go in my opinion, since the 18650 cell doesn't offer significant advantage compared to 2 x 2500mAh.
The philosophy of having no visible screws due to aesthetics is something that should be changed, especially since nobody complained about such aesthetic problems.

Pretty much agree, thats why I said "if it sounds good" I have in my collection one wm-fx465, obtained it as never-used device and it was providing constant around 0.10% wrms after the belt replacement. And that device is kind of plastic mid-range, mechanically simple sony walkman. Of course, DD range is out of the questions. Still, we will see the features this one comes with and, as I said, this could be the first "new" walkman I would consider buying :)
