This is on US Ebay, an early Standard Radio Cassette Player SR-182. For those that don't know, Superscope (Marantz) used Standard Radio to build their iconic solid-state equipment. In 1974 Superscope bought controlling shares of the company, the first for a USA Corporation in Japan. One of Panasonic's first Boomboxes, the RF-7270 from 1969 on ebay. I guess the seller doesn't know that the handle can go down and used like a kick stand. These early models are well-built with nice moving knobs and dials and crisp clicks and this style was only popular for maybe two or three years. This is a wild one, check out the transport buttons, what's going on here? I don't think I've ever seen this layout before, I wonder if Sanyo built these but they were outdated before shipping so they sold them off to Sears? The first three digits on the back "564" indicate Sanyo built it but the Sears Logo is just basic lettering and doesn't match their font. At the prices charged I would hope so. I have posted this before but here is a Sanyo from 1973 My Mother actually bought one of these back then, getting it for a discounted price of about £38. Either way, according to the Bank of England that is the equivalent of £450 in todays money. Not ridiculous but definitely not a casual purchase
At least is a substantial unit, I wonder if the lower-end market hard started yet, I think most of the budget models started showing up around 1975
