Hi, my name is Krist though most call me Wolfie hence the user name. While I am not as enthusiastic as some hobbyists, I have always had a fascination with vintage tech. Probably due to being trained as an electronics technician in the Navy back in the 80's and then moving to PC Technician as well as my Grandmother's influence on remembering history.

My interests are quite wide ranging, from old computers to audio and even kitchen/cooking utensils.

Now that I'm "retired" I've started back into photography as well. And my last area that might be of interest here is old time pieces, both watches and clocks.

Well, thanks for listening to me and hope to see you all around here.

P.S. You can thank Techmoan for letting me know of this site.

    Welcome Wolfie

If you dig back through the archives you will find some threads you might find interesting e.g

    http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/old-computers-prev-not-your-conventional-cassette-player.1581/

    http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/how-retro-are-you.991/

There are loads of good channels on Youtube although Techmoan is one of the best

Check out LGR, Technology Connections. 8 bit guy, Retromancave, and Vwestlife

I hope "retirement" was your choice. Loads of people at work "retired" a couple of years ago but I am still hanging on in there having to do lots of the jobs they used to do .

Longman,"Retired" is a forced choice, actually disabled, Bad heart and COPD.

Retired just sounds better and doesn't require long explanation of all that is wrong with this over used body of mine.

Sorry to hear that. Some of our most regular posters here are disabled. Most of the "retirements" at work have actually been
redundancies so that was my initial guess.

Welcome, feel free to contribute about any of your past experiences, while some of the newer members are too young to remember all the cool technology and are growing up in the "same but better" consumer environment, I love hearing and seeing all of the cool old stuff. I don't usually direct new people to other forums but if you haven't read this thread, it's unbelievable and his interests mirror everything you mentioned. It's one of the most read threads on the internet right now, he just needs to mention boomboxes to get a few more hits.

There's some really good photography on this site, some members are also into taking great photos, I try but I can barely get my little Nikon to focus correctly. If you see anything cool at the thrifts, flea markets, boot sales, etc, we have threads for those and they get a lot of attention, all great places to add your photos.

Never had to deal with that, the only time I worked for major corps was as a temp during slow times with my PC repair business Which never did well but let me meet the bills with a little left over, very little.)
I focused on helping the low income and the small business like mom and pop type business with computer services. Though that ended about 11 years ago then no work for 10 of those years while trying to get my disability (Yeah, it took 10 years and 5 months!). But worked the last 8 months at dollar tree here in the states at which point they finally gave me the disability.
