Hi, I am a Japanese national currently living in London, and have been into box restorations for the last 3 years or so. I have worked on: Hitachi TRK-8600 Panasonic RX-5500 Pioneer SK-70 Sony CFS-85S so far. Nice to meet with you all, and please let me know if you need any language help etc..
Greetings from the wet South Coast. Looking through your list I am wondering if you are trying to collect one of each make ? Aiwa next ? How long have you been in the UK ? In different threads I have explained how back in the 80s we had Sony, Aiwa, Toshiba and Hitachi factories here in the UK. Going a bit off topic, readers outside the UK might not know that we still have Honda, Nissan and Toyota car factories here.
Hi Longman, I have been in UK for almost 6 years now. As for my collection, currently I tend to purchase mid-sized boxes from late 70s - early 80s which are in poor condition internally. Re-edging TRK-8600's woofers (as coils were off-centred) and completely recapping CFS-85S have been some memorable (and rewarding) moments! My next project will be Sony CF-570 for which I plan to use a 3D printer to create a missing part
A warm welcome to you from California I will need a lot of help with Japanese language . Some of my equipment are made for Japanese domestic market and I cannot figure out certain words on specific buttons. many thanks in advance.
Not to go off-topic Boodokhan, my American Buddy in Tokyo has a scanner on his phone. We went to Mall of America and Japanese Text is about as popular as the 80's, on every shirt and sign and he was waving his phone over all of it, translating for us.
