    Welcome and beautiful box!

I'd take it back apart and mess with the front cover and tape door, something didn't go back into place right or you dropped a screw in the well.

I can take pictures maybe someone here can see the problem.

I never touch the door en the mechanism seems alright but what i know im a newb.

The door is automaticly open en the eject knob push the little black thing up and down.

If i push the door bij hand and push the play button it is verry hard if i keep the door open and push play no problem.

Im heart broken this boombox means a lot to me :L

If maybe someone can take pictures of his/hers crown 850 en compare maybe.

I wil take pictures and place them here.

    Thanks for you're message.

There might be a small piece on the bottom of the cassette tray that is blocking the door. Don't force anything, look carefully on the inside and lightly move any latches you can see. Lightly shake the box upside down to see if anything drops out of the open door.

It looks like the heads move up and down and the old lube is dried, in the third photo it looks like the idler tire assembly is behind the moving plate binding? I'd clean the wells good with IPA and Q-tips to get all of those little hairs out.

I have a feeling the heads are stuck in the "UP" position due to the sticky lube. If no one else chimes in, look around the internet for the proper lube, I'd try Tapeheads or AudioKarma, there should be some old threads with recommendations.

I find that once it's clean, you can move the assembly with your finger or the tape deck buttons, they'll "snap" at first but after a few cycles you'll start to get more of a fluid movement. Search Cassette2go's Responses on the TAPE Button, lack of use causes this to lock up and it can cause many more issues. Most of these are solved by gettting the plates moving freely. This is all pretty easy work, it just takes forever to clean all the nooks and crannies.

Welcome label321! The Crown CSS 850 is one of my favorites; such a beautiful and well-made box. You're in great hands with Mister X; good luck!
