I recently acquired an Akai PM-01 walkman with the Stereo Tuner Pack model FM-01 and I'm looking to learn anything I can about it including its worth. I do know that it is about the fifth portable walkman model ever made, however I can't find much else about it. The one I have does work and sounds great!
All I know is they didn't seem to make many models, but they did have some rebadged for TEAC and one other company that I can't remember I have the PM-R2 (1983) and I'm really fond of it, partly as it's a little more scarce, partly because I love a huge cassette window! http://stereo2go.org/forums/threads/akai-pm-r2-rare-and-complete.1589/ There are a couple of PM-01s for sale on eBay I noticed.. It appears to be their most basic model A bit of info on some of the Akai range here https://personalhifiblog.blogspot.co.uk/p/oem.html post a reply if you find out more as I too am interested in Akai hi fi and portables Cheers
Wow, that TEAC is really nice! The Akai PM-01 really looks like a Toshiba, even the name badge looks like they private labeled it.
