    Hello friends
I would like to get some help from you about bookshelf speakers
what brand/ model of bookshelf speaker you recommend? I have plan to buy a Mcintosh integrated amp and my current Monitor Audio bookshelf (R90) might not be good enough. I prefer British companies (with my limited experience British companies are the best for speakers), but I welcome any suggestions

I just checked Ebay for this item and see the price tag of several thousand dollars. Is that correct?

I guess we 1st should have asked what is your budget? For around $2000 USD, the kef LS50 wireless sound amazing. They have built in amplifiers, built in dac, rca, usb,and toslink inputs as well as wireless streaming right to the unit from your NAS if you have one. Right now I am using it with an old recapped velodyne spl200 subwoofer. I actually sold my McIntosh MC402 Amplifier and Joule Electra LAP150A preamp and now using the LS50 wireless. The regular non powered LS 50 are nice also but to me, they got ringy fast. The Wireless versions even though they have the same driver, sounds completely different and smoother.

    yeah, the Kef's are good stuff indeed - it's just a budget-question !
if you're looking for actice speakers i could recommend you some 80'ies RESTEK OPTIMA, those you find rather affordable on ebay, but as they're a german thing, i don't think you find'em over in the states and shipping at their weight kills (...otherwise i'd offer you mine).

If you like a smoother sound, Try a used set of B&W PM1. If you like a bit more top end, a used set of B&W 805 might do the trick.
