I'm Stuart, bought first box Sharp GF 767 at shop in Tottenham Court Road london approx. 1983 for £225, a fortune at the time as i was earning £40 a week. Couldn't afford the 777 as was about another £50 as i recall. Got hold of one number of years later which i am refurbishing at present then will do my 767 as has a few battle scars, crackling etc. Look forward to hearing from you all.

Hello Stuart, Interesting to hear about your 1983 purchase of the GF767 and how much it cost. I have actually yet to see one in the plastic. They weren't sold in places like Dixons, and I have wondered where people bought them. I find it fascinating to compare prices of different items back in the the 1980s. So relative to house prices your GF767 cost the equivalent of about £1700 in todays money (or a high end Macbook !)
Hello All Thanks for your replies. As i recall the 767 and 777 were hard to find and only specialist hifi shops sold them in London. I didn't realise how rare the 767 is. Its my next project after i finish with the 777. That box has travelled everywhere and given years of enjoyment but now she needs a clean up and makeover Much prefer it than a Macbook
