RX-DT9, 99, 909 JDM (707 ROW) and 95 JDM (75 ROW)-those are all Cobra Tops, shall we say, of different generations.

Ah, no worries, mate - here I'd keep in mind the top Cobras -
    RX-DT9, 99, 909 JDM (707 ROW) and 95 JDM (75 ROW)

Speaking about the top component Pannies - IMO those are let's say only 3 machines:
RX-CT990 (no CD), RX-DT680/690 (with CD),
    That's basically all. :)

You mean from that stock? :)

Yes, Sergey, the owner, has been collecting them for several years being a real fan of the
    last "real" boxes from 90s.
BTW, at least a couple of those at the pic were scored, where? would you think, :?
in Canada. :) Ebay saves. They made a long way after that, having crossed the ocean.
Sergey was looking namely for NIBs for his collection in Moscow.

Unfortunately lately he was forced to sell some, due to money reasons. :(

This black/gold era was maybe the last good/descent time of boxes then came the "egg" and dinosaurs died out very fast faster than the comet Nibiru that supposed to finish us off...pffff
If someone has seen good looking boxes after the early 90s please show..............

Yes, do agree with you, mate - those top Cobras and components from Panasonic, first half of 90s,
    were the last real boxes.
I call them "the swan song" of Matsushita. :)

What about those ones similar to the sony fh7 but they must be late 80s not early 90s.

This Condor is actually a copy of Philips D8614, made by Unitra in Poland back in the day.

I went out into the -4 F weather to the stacks and grabbed my Panasonic RX-CT980 patiently sitting on the shelve looking for love. It's kind of nice, I got it cheap in a thrift store and never really played with it. One of the issues is it needs the figure 8 cord and although I have millions of cords the figure 8 is the hardest to find. I would consider mine a step below mint, there's some small scratches on the top of the plastic speaker cases. It had the Platinum Sticker on it but I either lost it or thought it was off a beer can.

One of the reasons I wanted to take a better look at it is to see if it really is bi-amped. I never noticed that before but it truly is, my Panasonic CH-10 mini-stereo is also bi-amped, I posted that unit below in another thread.

The CH-10 is a pretty cool stereo but when I compare it to the RX-CT980 they are quite different, the buttons on the boombox are mid-level quality and the speakers are all plastic. I can't compare the sound since I need to find a cord but the speakers drivers look the same.

I never really looked deeply into the "Platinum" Line but Earth Wind and Fire was pushing them in the early 80's so they must have been good, personally it's a good unit for the garage or kids room but overall the feel and tactile feedback are sub-par, at least on my unit. I might have another out there buried behind a Toshiba or two and I think I've seen others over the years and never grabbed them.

Wow, maybe I should reconsider, this one sold for $240.00 CAD

PULSE also posted on the Russian Boombox Forum, there's a lot more cool photos and brochures.
