So got a reply from Mr. Hua from Sony Japan and they looked but couldn't find any documentation on the WA-2000 nor WA-4000... :(
Wonder how hard they looked but ok got a reply. Was a long shot anyways, hope one day somewhere the service doc emerge from some obscure little repairshop hidden in some village in the depths of our planet....

edit: so i dove into the depths and found a video on YT from some Japanese guy fixing the WA-2000...in his video he also showed the WA-2001 and waddayaknow the boards of the 2000 and 2001 are identical. So did a search on 2001 and there is a service manual on elektrotanya of the WA-2001! Yes! With the WA-4000 i also got a WA-2000 but this is only giving me static on both radio and tape....can faintly hear tape playing but now i can take some measurements.....

The WA-2000 seems to be the entry model into the WA "brick" Series, maybe the least sold of the bunch, it was never on my radar while looking for the others. While the others are kind of big and unique, the 2000 seems to be just a rebadge TCM or TCS Model but it has a radio. How does the build quality look on it?

Build quality of the WA2000 is like in WM-B10, B12 etc...plastic frame mounted on the pcb and clamped between the plastic housing, mech is also plastic, plastic hubs and flywheels....so budget model...also was cheering to soon, WA2001 has different chip set then WA2000. Boards look identical but are electrically different.
But i don't think i'm going to invest more time into this 2000, have better things to fix ;)
Will move it on to some one who wants to give it time or salvage it for parts...

On the other hand found a paper copy of the WA4000 service manual on Buyee but the seller wants €18,- for it which is more then i paid for the WA4000 incl tax...

Great that it arrived and survived the journey! Hope you get it working perfectly again. I have never seen a Sony Walkman where the amplified headphone output is not the green color and yet is stereo. Black is, as far as I know, always an EAR out. Or a line-out. On the other hand, I have never seen anywhere, in a brochure or other documentation, where Sony indicates on paper that green means stereo. But new discoveries are always cool!

Well i actually think the output is pseudo-stereo, so double mono....at that time you also had the MDR-E212MRV remote which had two jacks, one mono 3.5mm for earphone, and one 2.5mm stereo for the remote. These we an accessoire to the TCM7 and other mono recorders with the remote input.
This 212MRV has two buds and ofcourse i had to open it up to see how it was hooked up. And basicly both drivers work in parallel, so pseudo stereo.
I think this arrangement can also be found in the WA2000 and WA4000 but Sony already did it on the circuit board.
Because the radio is mono, also no stereo FM but that it records on both channels is funny. But both output jacks on the 2000 and 4000 are switched stereo jacks.
Maybe i'll get that paper sm but seller has to drop his price.
I'll have a closer look at the head when she is openend up again. To many other babies need attention.

edit: just did a quick check but it looks like a full track mono head, that would explain why it's recording on both L&R...never seen a full track mono cassette head, for tape delays/echo's yes but in cassette format?
