Been reading a lot of the subjects on this site, and as an ex Laskys manager, it remains me very much of my life there. Yes, we had the geeks as they are now called, and then we had guys like you, knew what they wanted, and in many ways helped us achieve the status we held in that market. Your knowledge helped US learn! The shops were only as good as their staff and their stock holding! If you hadn't asked the questions, we couldn't have found the answers! Audiotronic was a Laskys own brand, as was Eagle, which was born of customer demands. Their specifications came from requirements for less harmonic distortion, better s/n ratio, less speaker coloration, less tape crosstalk, and many other improvements, fathered by your demand. Laskys sadly suffered from internal politics, but its staff were drawn from the ranks of people on sites like this.
Unfortunately we didn't have Laskys over here but a lot of similar stores shared the same fate. Products changed so quickly and cheaper versions killed some of the great brands.
@Larry Keehan : did you have a portable cassette player (walkman-type) at Laskys, too ? i‘m asking bcause that could have been a Cloneman then (wich i don‘t have than either)…
