If it is it's pretty rare only four pieces were made in 1935 AEG K1. Telefunken FE VI mirror tv was a technological marvel in 1937.
Weren't most machine wire back then? I bet having a portable recorder was a huge deal back then even if it was an elbow-breaker.
Very good point @Mister X , actually AEG K1 is considered the first practical tape recorder first presented publicly at Berlin Radio Show , that was in 1935. Between 1932-1935 AEG built the first tape recorder using Pfleumer’s tape, while BASF improved the tape material switching from paper to plastic . In a way every Walkman has DNA traces to AEG K1 .

Good question, better question - is it replaceable ( Nagra says "it`s detachable" ) - so they was able to take it off for the photo to reduce weight... by the way - she looks a little bit like Lt. Ripley - if she was, that would explain the muscle power ;-)
;-)) - And i think, she wouldn't mind receiving a Walkman as a Christmas present next year... I see her stumble over the power cord, evrytime she passes it...like Butler James and the Tigers head.
