Hi all, it's time to take my Panasonic RX5250 apart to fit new belts, while i'm at it i would like to change the illumination to led's, my question is, do i just solder in a led or do i also add a resistor, if so what value ? I see on youtube that Reli has done this to his Panasonic and the effect is pleasing.

You normally need a series resistor, and make sure the LED is in the right direction.

For a 12V supply 470 ohms is probably about right and this agrees

There is a big variation depending on colour with white being the brightest. At work we put some LEDs on a front panel and using the same resistors the white ones were stupidly bright compared to the others. To match the brightness they only needed about 1mA compared to 20mA in the red and green ones.
