Hi everyone! I just joined - primarily because I came across Doublecee's post about fabricating new door latches for Sony DD Walkmen. Yes, Walkmen - I refuse to say Walkmans regardless of what Sony or anyone else says! I will also be referring to all "personal cassette players" as Walkmen but I will always specify brand . I am not a collector and frankly, not a huge fan of the cassette format at all. They were a necessary evil for portability, recording, and distribution of that which was recorded. I never bought prerecorded tapes unless it was the only option (hello ROIR!). After the advent of the recordable CD, I thought I had said my final goodbye to the cassette! I've always kept a cassette player around, though: 1 - Yamaha KX-330 deck that I use primarily for transcription to a digital format. And, more relevant to these fora: 2 - Panasonic RX-5250 boombox - sounds great and has proper turntable/aux inputs (which I use with both, including a Bluetooth adaptor) 3 - Sony WM-DDIII - I just bought this for my daughter. More and more of her musician friends are releasing stuff on cassette. I actually talked her out of doing the same with HER band! 4 - Sony WM-DD30 - This, most recently, for my personal listening. I'm STILL a little annoyed in this regard that cassettes have once again become a thing! Best, Vanya
