    Hello!

I'm in Europe, and I got into cassette tapes earlier this year. I wanted to record tapes for use in an old car with a nice cassette player, so I bought a We Are Rewind portable cassette player. Turns out the We Are Rewind is fine for playback (as long as it's not moving), but pretty bad for recording, so I bought a refurbished TEAC V-1030 three-head tape deck which has worked wonders!

I since acquired a WM-D3 with a broken center gear, and have been tinkering with it using replacement parts from mihokm on eBay. Then I found a WM-DDII and JVC-RC660 (boombox) in a relative's garage, and plan on fixing those up later!

Here are some photos of said devices:

The boombox still needs a more thorough cleaning, sorry about that :)

What I love the most about all these devices is the build quality - such as the use of metal, the tactile buttons and the analog volume wheels.

I've found a lot of used Type II cassette tapes of various brands and I've been positively surprised by the good sound quality that can be achieved with the right recording setup. Learning to record albums and mixtapes with good quality has been a lot of fun! :)

This website has been an indispensable resource when fixing up the WM-D3, and I'm hoping to get some advice on fixing the final problems, which I'll post about (with video) in the Walkman forum at a later time.

I really hope I can manage to fix all these devices in time!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have the cassette bug and found some cool players. I was just at our local cassette tape dealer and grabbed one to play in my old work truck which still has a cassette deck. Feel free to post anything, including cars, we love it all.
