    Hello everyone!

Newbie alert!!! I just purchased a Sony CFS-9000. I was enamored by the look of this thing and couldn't wait to hear what it could do.
Outside, super clean. Tuner, speakers, all work great. Popped a tape in there and I swear it played for 5 seconds and either I hit stop, or something happened. Now when I try to play anything via tape deck - no movement at all. Looking for some help here. Anything y'all might know would help me immensely.

    Thank you!

    Welcome

I just looked at a picture and the CFS9000 looks great, very similar to the famous FH7.

If you aren't aware almost all cassette decks rely on a number of rubber belts and now that equipment is getting to be 30+ years old they stretch, break or turn to goo.
Replacements do seem to be readily available if you know what sizes you need.

I notice there is a service manual on The HiFi engine website so you could sign up for that and see what it says.

Having a bit of experience in repairing items will help but they usually aren't much more complicated than something like Meccano or Lego Technics.
