1983, I think I was rocking the MG-35, I needed a radio when the batteries wouldn't push tape.

Very early Sony Boombox Ad from 1972. This is a lot better pricing than I thought. I have most of the little ones and one, I think it's the CF-450 with a price tag inside and it was a lot more money when new. I still haven't gotten a CF-550 yet but the little ones are all great little collector items.

Also from 1972, oh and by the way, that non-descript TV now goes for silly money.....
I attached an ebay sold listing.....

1972, the CF-550 was just a little less than a complete Marantz Stereo which now goes for much, much more. I love the Koss, I used to see these at thrifts on a regular basis. According to some threads on Audio Karma, they will still honor the lifetime guarantee on these and especially on the foam pads.

1986, Lasonic makes a showing, yep, big boxes but they weren't that expensive. From Hills Department Store (USA).

True Value is a chain of hardware stores, they must have gotten a great deal from Sharp and tried selling boomboxes back in 1988. The portable looks like cheap stuff while the Twincams might be pretty nice, this was on the downside for boomers but the Twincams were a step up from entry-level and some kind of looked cool.

1981 Panasonics, the RX-5020 is pretty basic and more expensive than what I would have thought. Scanners must have caught on around then, I remember old folks used to have them and listen to the police/fire/EMT channels, it was kind of interesting.

1990, the Sports Models were still pretty popular for the runners and beach goers
