Hello. My ghettobaster Sony CFS W 470S has been waiting for about 20 years for me to get compact cassettes playing. Now I've made some progress. I downloaded the service manual. I looked inside the case and saw that only one belt, number 258 according to the manual, had fallen apart. Two more simple belts are very stretched, but I'll replace them; there's no problem with the tape counter and rewind. The other belt, which also attaches to the motor pulley, is number 281. It turned out to be strong and not stretched. When I pull on it, it resists strongly; it feels like a new belt. It remained in my hands as a closed loop. But I still don't know what its real length once was. Now its half-length is approximately 155 mm. And how exactly it passes through the two flywheels and the three plastic wheels of deck A. Please tell me. If I manage to upload a photo, I'll include a picture of these wheels one and two and the X wheel in the center between the flywheels. Today I asked Al about this at length. He immediately told me the belt lengths: 122 and 109 mm (belt numbers 281 and 258). Well, my joy soon waned. He first offered me one way to wind the belt on the wheels, then diametrically opposed ones, then a third, a fourth, a 10th, and each time he said, "I made a mistake, but now the final, definitively correct one will be." I'm completely disillusioned with this kind of help; it's a complete lie. So I'm relying solely on you, bro.
