I've been watching Techmoan since 2018, and I've seen him review some really interesting home theater stuff over the years. He seems to gravitate towards audio and video devices than can enhance the experience of watching movies in small spaces. Weird 3D neck speakers, small projectors, under couch feedback speakers... all mostly gimmicky stuff that promise big improvements for baby home theater... and he is most always disappointed with them haha. That is the entertainment of it really, watching him get these home AV toys and 'try to be optimistic'... to be clear, his current studio 'theater' setup is right down tiny, and maybe something an actual rat would find cramped. (I say this last part in fun, not as a serious critique) Anyways, I would love to see Techmoan take a look at the Apple Vision Pro from his usual moan perspective but as a serious home theater replacement device, rather than the usual tech bro 'computer for the face', 'iPhone killer', 'Laptop replacement', etc etc perspectives. If he got his hands on one, he could definitely speak to how movies look in them (compared to his other setups), how the spacial sound varies across AirPods, bluetooth headphones, built-in speakers, and how the experience of wearing it is like for him. I'd be most interested in knowing how the Vision Pro compares to watching movies on his traditional home theater setup, and what drawbacks there would be for him. (Also maybe how his eyesight does with the device). Idk, maybe one day. Here's a photo of Techmoan with the Philips CD/TT combo unit on a massive screen inside of Mount Hood on AVP.
It's kind of like when we were sold that tiny speakers, in the right places would power the world into Bose Supremacy of TV audio. Those tiny systems didn't get sold and upgraded, they got tossed out or sometimes donated. The tiny speakers just never amounted to much. I do think that the technology is 1000% times better than a 70's boombox, some of the little BT portables sound great but most HT seems to be going back to larger drivers. You might get lucky, Walkman Archive has talked to him before and I'm pretty sure he's a member on here. He's used several of my ideas which I think is great, I love raw YT Content, not so much the AI or overly commercial videos but it's so much better than the cable repair dramadies. Do you have any of the A/V goggles? I like watching the YT Videos with people knocking over stuff.
Tiny speakers…. Not sure I’ve ever heard of this before but I am interested… can you elaborate on this? I do hope He sees this and considers it… what gave me the idea was when I watched Tron Ares in Vision Pro recently using the Disney+ app… I haven’t felt that immersed in a movie since my last proper IMAX showing of Top Gun Maverick. I was on the edge of my couch and really invested in this movie the entire time. The Disney+ app for AVP has a proper movie theater virtual environment and it’s so realistic it’s freaky when you first use it. Also, you get to see the IMAX cut and thanks to the Vision Pro’s displays, the movie itself is in 3D… inside of a virtual theater… in your living room. With AirPods Pros or Maxes, it really feels realistic. I don’t own any other VR products… and I really only got the Vision Pro because I found it at an electronics pawn shop for about $1,000.
Mister X is talking about the Bose Acoustimass, they came out in the 90’s. The biggest pile of cr4p going, but a lot of people fell for it. Look up Bose Acoustimass.
Yea, I just meant he's trying to find something for his smaller room but sometimes it's very difficult. Those little Bose Speakers would fit perfectly but there's a trade-off when downsizing audio equipment, a lot of people found out when they tossed their Pioneer 1250's for the Bose's.
