    I too bought that copy of What HiFi! I don’t know what happened to that particular cassette, but I’ve just been gifted a box of ‘old tapes’ and look what I found amongst them!

    edit: In fact there are three of them! But only one That’s box…

    I was looking a little deeper into Taiyo Yuden, wow they had a ton of stuff, and still do, a multi-billion dollar company today.

    With CD-Rs they called their product "Master Grade Archival Media" and it looks like they were into the high end for both tapes and CD-Rs.

    I just rode home through the streets of Munich on my bike listening to some 2026-release techno (Octo Octa), charlie xcx' "Von Dutch" and some Modeselektor and T'Pau "China in your Hands"

    (yeah my mixtapes r dope)

    recorded onto a 1979 BASF chromdioxid (playing on a nothing-special-but-well-maintained Sony WM-FX415)

    and it all sounds absolutely incredible and I am absolutely LOVING life and this thread :-D

    Perhaps I got lucky with the BASF's I picked up and yeah I put in good effort on the dub, and I know we are talking about "That's"

    but I gotta say they just sound... absolutely amazing...

    I just needed to share this with people who understand... :)

    That's cassette, folks...
