probably the idler wheel rubber needs replacement.....do a search in the forum for tech answers and you should be able to find what your looking for......

thanks for the quick answer. the situation is this: tape mechanism is stuck on play but nothing spinning, i.e. pinch roller is down, head is up, play button is stuck and motor doesn't move. strange ain't it?

edit:
somehow the motor doesn't get juice and i can't press the upper row of the knobs (rec play rew ff). but like i said everything looks very fit and clean from the inside ..

Unfortunately there's a broke lever in the tape mechanism. Looks like I need another entire tape unit. Maybe I'll wait and continue working on the other boxes. For everyone in need, here's the link to the service manual
