Here it is the latest find , a wonderful mini RED Sanyo MS-300K After a deep clean and wash its now standing proudly among other mini sanyos i got !

DSC03809

This line of minis that Sanyo made back in the day is one of the prettiest ever made by a company . I can now say that sanyo is the king of minis !  This oje came in many colourways too which is pretty cool . The MS-300K looks even prettier in red or yellow .

Sanyo MS-500K  and SANYO MS-200K plus Sanyo MS-300K must be the 3 smallest and slimest boxes ever made. Now James its time for Googling

Original Post

I couldn't find these SANYO MS-200K plus Sanyo MS-300K  and since not readily found = not really interested in them.

I prefer the  Sansui FX-300R over the Sanyo M-S300K mini boombox, as the Sansui has a switchable Stereo / Aux input where as the Sanyo M-S300K has none!

And now back to Deech's post & for the benefit of the 99.999% of members who are interested in them... .

These are amazing little things, 100% Sanyo, they really invested in the mini as a format.  I love the inclusion of the tape counter.

I always wondered if they heated with this model and used a walkman mechanism.

Great find.

Lovely Deech, a beautiful mini and Sanyo are the undisputed kings. I may have a smaller one at home, ill take a snap when im back but im away with work atm. Its a micro cassette mini.

Anyway, this is a beautiful find and its so nice in red, good find bro.

The Sanyo M-S300K sure looks like a walkman with attached speakers ! this tiny radio has the weight of a feather and powers up with 6 AA batteries its so easy to carry around and  i just love how  clarified is the sound for such a small scale ''ghettoblaster'' .

Ofcourse Brutus it doesnt have an option for metal/chrome tapes . It s just a basic little radio but it never seazes to amaze me on how Sanyo were so dedicated to their final product in terms of sound and aesthetics.

For a size comparison please have a look at this pic with a Sony CFS-77.

The Sanyo M-S200K looks like this :

The Sanyo M-S350K  also came in some really vibrant colours but in terms of a High End mini - micro Sanyo having a proper line-in and all the full extras one must not look further than the Sanyo M-X66 which although it uses a microcassete the cassette recorder is fully removable and can be used as a walkman, the rest of the unit is a dock !!

Speaking of colours how much i would like to see more collections with the same model in different colours . I once saw a collection from a guy from Russia with the Panasonic RX-C45 and the Panasonic RX-C50 in all different colourways and i was thrilled . Here is the link from a topic by member Michiel who is greatly missed .. him and his useful posts.

Declaration

I agree, AO: it's good that Sanyo chose to include a tape counter in this range of their jamboxes (or "miniboxes") -- indeed, as it is a good idea to include a tape counter for just about any analog-era, cassette-playing, cassette-recording device. Quite useful for making a note of -- and for finding -- sections and passages of audio recordings .

Speculation And Suggestion

I suppose that I'll take your word for it, AO, that Sanyo seems to have used only its own components to make these pint-sized models of theirs back in the day. And I must say that these opposite-facing, "two faces of Janus"-like twin-cassette-deck layouts are quite unusual . It would have been something else for Sanyo to have the traditional FM and AM (or MW) bands located over one of the tape decks (maybe the recording tape deck) and for the company to design the two shortwave bands (or the shortwave and longwave bands) over the other tape deck. But that would cause confusion come recording-from-radio time. (I mean, face the non-recording tape deck because you're recording from either of the SW bands, yet have to monitor the recording tape deck on the portable's opposite side ?)

Querying Conclusion

And, uh ... why did I suddenly think of the old Snoopy Speedway set that my brother received as a present (maybe for his birthday) as a kid? It happened just when I was looking at the stylized, cutaway-like tape deck/ radio tuner section of Deech's Sanyo MS-300K.
