Sony APM 007AV speakers

Greetings all. Can anyone please help. I have just received a nice pair of sony apm-007av speakers. Here is the problem. One of the speakers slight distortion. Here is how i would describe it, it sounds like the the noise you get when you tear a piece of paper in two. Really annoying. The second one is perfect.

This is the second pair i have purchased. The first pair both had the same problem. This pair came in there box, and are spotless. I would really like to keep them, they are really cool looking speakers. Anyone out there any ideas? Cheers.

So i now have four of these speakers, and three have this problem. Maybe this is a known fault with this model of speaker. The speakers have been well maintained. I have opened them, and there are no signs of corrosion. Maybe i need to keep an eye out for another pair.
It could be that the voice coil which sits over the permanent magnet has seized up due to poor storage conditions and lack of use. If you can get at the speaker itself it may be worth trying to see how easy the movement is. While you have the speaker disassembled check to see that there is no tears where the paper cone is joined to the speaker frame/basket or that the adhesive holding it to the basket has not come away.

Playing some bass heavy tracks at a moderately loud volume may be all that is required to free it, or additionally some oil or grease (careful not to get any on the paper cone) may be required to ease where it is stuck.
