Sony APM 007AV speakers

Probably either something wrong within the amp circuitry in that speaker or the speaker itself, without actually hearing the sound to be sure it is hard to say.

Can you post a clip / video of what it sounds like. Were they NIB? I managed to get a NIB pair myself and they work perfectly.

Postinh clips of sound is not omething i can do my friends. They look almost new. The sound comes through okay, just a kind of tearing sound. Especially vocal, say like news on a radio. Treble seems to be the problem. Any ideas?

just a wild guess it may be the crossover circuitry...capacitors

So i now have four of these speakers, and three have this problem. Maybe this is a known fault with this model of speaker. The speakers have been well maintained. I have opened them, and there are no signs of corrosion. Maybe i need to keep an eye out for another pair.

Greetings all. Can anyone fix this speaker for me. I will pay for any repairs. I would love to have them fully functioning.

I have checked this speaker with an external amp, and the speaker seems to be the problem. I may be lucky and find one on ebay with a bit of luck.

It could be that the voice coil which sits over the permanent magnet has seized up due to poor storage conditions and lack of use. If you can get at the speaker itself it may be worth trying to see how easy the movement is. While you have the speaker disassembled check to see that there is no tears where the paper cone is joined to the speaker frame/basket or that the adhesive holding it to the basket has not come away.

Playing some bass heavy tracks at a moderately loud volume may be all that is required to free it, or additionally some oil or grease (careful not to get any on the paper cone) may be required to ease where it is stuck.

Tried that. No joy. The speaker seems to be moving freely. I will just keep my eyes open for a pair on ebay. Surely one will be good.

I see a pair of sony apm-090 speakers on ebay. They appear to have the same drivers as the 007's. Can anyone tell me if they are identical?
