No tape deck...pass..sick of reading about bluetooth rubbish. but it does look an improvment over that dreadful aiwa thing

Sadly, I have to agree. It seems to me a step in the right direction as far as design goes. (I assume the net is to accomodate tablets as well?)

But as they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" so I can see why others don't mind Aiwa's look.

Here are the specs.....

Two 10" woofers - two 4" horns - 150 watts - 2 USB charging ports - USB & SD card music play - wireless mic - am/fm radio - remote control - carry handle & strap, guitar & microphone in, audio in & out, digital display, and lots of power including 12hrs of battery that's fully rechargeable. Oh and you can connect up to 8 BumpBoxx units together.bbxxxxx

The specs and size are off the charts for a boombox. It's 38 inches long, 22 inches tall, and 8 1/2 inches thick. It's made of pressed wood with individual chambers for each speaker and a bass port on the rear. This thing was designed to be very loud and produce crushing bass. I've already ordered one and look forward to getting it. At $329 for this type of performance it's a no brainer. A cassette deck would significantly increase price and there would be complaints about that. I'm glad a company decided to make a true boombox designed for outdoor use that will crush any classic box.

Hmm like the effort in design but really there are a lot of vintage boxes out there waiting for love really if i went blue tooth Id go for a modern designed one that I can put in my carry on As far as the side inputs seems like a style thing if this is a modern box is the sound quality improved and if you want this a vintage box is the way to go but Im sure there is a market for it just not me

If sound quality is the number 1 concern the Aiwa Exos crushes everything modern and it only costs $299. The DJ Tech boombox is also a great modern interpretation of a classic boombox with much richer sound and fantastic bass. The Bumpboxx is very specific about what it's product is for. It is very large, very loud, purposely built for outdoor use. Like a C100F on steroids. It is perfect for what I plan to use it for...outside!

Welcome aboard Rob. Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. We are eagerly awaiting the release of your product. As a boombox collector and someone who uses his boomboxes out in public I am very excited about your product. Can't wait to test that "beast" on the streets.

Ordered one of these in Red today. My question is once the battery is dead are you able to run the box with the charger while charging? When I receive my purchase will it come fully charged or will I need to charge it for 8 hours first?

Thanks for answering these questions

I've had my Bumpboxx for 3 days now and let me tell you this is an amazing unit. I was completely shocked by the sheer power and bass kick. The bass is massive! Feel it in the pit of your stomach massive. At full volume it is very composed. Delivery of music is EXTREMELY powerful yet smooth. If you have ever wanted King Kong like power in a boombox with ridiculous amounts of bass then this boombox is for you.

I have a question also, was going to order one of these, i missed the 329 early order, was expecting them to be 429 after indiegogo offer ended but site says 499? shipping to the uk and the weak pound is killin me! but i neeed one of these. Anyvplans for Euro distribution?

Great product btw.

The indiegogo campaign was 329 plus $49 shipping in USA. Shipping to UK is $249. It goes by dimensional weight since it's huge. You might want to wait until we get a distributor in the UK to purchase.

You can use code SAVE100 on our website at BumpBoxx.com to get $100 off. But there is still $249 shipping to the U.K.  Free shipping is only in the USA.

Thank you.

The battery is a conventional lead-acid unit, not a lithium unit, so you can easily find an aftermarket replacement if you need to.

This may be covered in the manual but I have another technical question.

Is there a limit to the storage size of the SD card or USB stick that the BumpBoxx will support? Any specific format (NTFS, FAT, FAT32, etc.)

The reason I ask is because the Lasonic i931 limits you to 2Gig card and USB size.

Transistorized posted:

You're right Reli. Disappointing for sure on the 2gig limit

I have a Pure Bug digital radio with the same limit. The problem is that SDHC which supports cards over 2Gig wasn't introduced until 2006.

in general if a unit will support 4Gig it is good for at least 32Gig. SDXC introduced in 2009 should be good for 2TBytes if you can afford it.

Manufacturers sometimes only quote the card sizes they have actually tested. I doubt if anyone has had the opportunity to try a 2Tb card yet.

That is great information. This would mean the Bumpboxx should be able to utilize a card with enough songs on it to last several months without repeating.

Next it would be nice to know if it supports other formats other than MP3. MP3 is okay if recorded in high quality but I also like AIF as there is little to no compression and the sound quality is better IMO

I keep thinking of these things after my post :-)

On my usb I have 24bit/192hz flac as well as 320kbps mp3 playing through the Bumpboxx. Because this is a very loud and powerful street box and not an indoor audiophile speaker I hear no discernible difference in sound quality. At the limit when cranked flac is mildly smoother at volume limits but a/b sound tests it's a mild difference at best. I would rather save space and use mp3 files.

There have been concerns about there not being a cassette player on these boxes. While that is true I found a hidden feature not in the manual.

If you have a SD card in the bumpboxx while playing the radio, if you press and hold the pause play button on the side control panel it will show "rec". At that point it is recording off of the radio onto the SD card in MP3 format.

Not sure if anyone had discovered that. I just got mine today so I'm still playing around with it.

The Bumboxx was marketed as the "Loudest Street Boombox on the Planet". For me it has more than delivered on that promise. It was NOT marketed as an audiophile boombox. If you want that get an Exos 9....but if you bring an Exos 9 outside and put it next to a Bumpboxx it might as well be turned off because you won't hear it! That is precisely why I love my Bumpboxx. Instead of nitpicking try appreciating the fact that a manufacturer cared enough to build a boombox for the streets...with more bass and volume than you could ever have imagined in a portable....

Every box isn't for everybody. The Bumpboxx definitely is for me. It's great to have choices when it comes to boomboxes. Bumpboxx will continue to produce new products and I will continue to have even more choices. For this product being their first release ever I think they did a great job. I will continue to support a company that respects this hobby and even asks for our input.
