What music are you listening to right now?

I am listening to Fela Kuti – Expensive Shit

Fela is a multi talented Nigerian artist.

The funny story behind the song title is that Fela’s house was raided by the police while he was doing some drugs. Since he did not want to get caught with the drugs he swallowed it. The police knowing that he just swallowed the drugs just arrested him and kept him till he had to goto the toilet, hence "expensive shit"

Hey Tuna nice track and I checked out some more of her songs.

I tried to find her albums but can’t find any on vinyl. I usually use discogs.com if I don’t go to the shops, well I guess I will not be getting any.

Wow hardly anyone here is listening to music these days or you don’t like to share what you are listening too?

I think it’s good to share as it shows us all what people are enjoying.

From time to time someone will mention something you have not come across or something you have not played in a while.

A good example of this is Tuna mentioning Lene Marlin, never heard of her before but I went and checked her out and liked what I heard. From that I wanted to get some but unfortunately for me no vinyl.

By sharing we help broaden each other’s tastes in music.

Today I was listening to The Beautiful South on the train to work.

Nice ELO, I will have to dig some out when I get home.

The only problem I find with ELO is, I have never found a good recording. I have bought multiple copies of the same album only to get the same result, I have come to the conclusion they must have all been badly mastered. Still I enjoy the music because I love their group.

Same here  I don't like the way their almbums were mastered.

But music still gtreat.

"Last train to London" track from "Discovery" '79 at the moment - love it

the police and sting

every album is beautifully mastered.

far better on lp than cd.

perhaps zenyatta is the best of them all.

these albums makes me smile when on the EMT

love analog... wow, just wow

and the ultimate 80's record:  sade - diamond life.

the walkman search, it all started with this record.

the ultimate dc2 record.

ok, these days i prefer the d5.

but the dc2 is portable

19lexicon78 I love the Sade Diamond life album, Smooth Operator is my favourite track from that album.

I am at the moment listening to Enter the Dragon Sound track, by Lalo Schifrin.

I managed to pickup a better vinyl recording of it while I was in Munich. If anyone wants a free copy of the vinyl, the first person to PM me can have it free of charge. I don’t need 2 copies of the vinyl.

Enter The Dragon

Hi 19lexicon78 I love music in general not just 70 and 80 sound tracks. It seems that I have just listened to a lot of old ones lately, you know how it is you listen to something which triggers off something else.

Well another sound track I can think of from the 70’s is SuperFly by Curtis Mayfield, love this album I have the original vinyl with the gatefold. Tracks like Freddis’s Dead, Pusherman, Give me your love and not forgetting SuperFly.

I also love all the John Barry stuff, you can always try some more of the Lalo Schifrin stuff too. The Blues brothers also worth checking out. I know this one is from the 90’s and a bit of a naff film but Blue Streak sound track is good too.

Sorry can’t think of many film sound tracks at the moment, I may look through my collection of vinyl to see if can get you a bit more albums to try.
