WM-F65 No sound

From what you describe it may be something like dead capacitors (left side dead, right side soon to expire) on the pre-amp side of the audio from the playback head going into the pre-amp IC. Check the audio path to see if you have them on the F65 and if so, then check them with an ESR meter and see if they are good.

Just realised you have posted the schematics up for the F65. Check capacitors C103 and C203. Also check C107/C207. If there are issues with recording look at C105/C205 as well. Although you are getting sound from the radio, it is also worth checking C121/C221, C119/C219, C116/C216 with an ESR too.

Thank you for the advise, I will have a look at those tonight, Luckily I still have my first f65 to take parts from.

Just had a look at those capacitors, Seem to be good, I also replaced them just in case. Still no sound on the left side. Any other ideas?

Did you replace them with brand new capacitors or are they salvaged from another walkman? Have you tested the parts for ESR and capacitance to confirm they are good?

Also with a continuity meter you should check at each point that you are getting a connection. Sony have made it very easy to trace the complete audio path on their schematic diagram

I'm getting a bit over my head here hahaha, I have replaced those two capacitors with salvaged ones that I know work.

The only problem is I have a basic Multi Meter

How basic? Even some of the modern basic DMM will have a continuity tester on them. Look for the diode symbol or a musical note on the mode selector.
